Mit Hjem

Upon arrival on June 21, I was met by an ISUP (International Study Abroad Progam) coordinator at the airport. I was directed to the nearby Hilton Hotel where arriving students were gathering to go to their residences. My group took the metro to Flintholm station and walked 5 minutes to our dorm Kathrine Kollegiet. I live on the fourth floor but the Danes don't count ground level as a floor so I am actually on the fifth floor. My roommate Lucila, Lu for short, is a transportation lawyer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our six story dorm is located on Finsensvej in Frederiksberg, an informal borough of Copenhagen. There are many grocery stores located on our block, the closest being Lidl, a german discount chain. Lidl is the cheapest grocery store in Copenhagen and they also have a great bakery selection! I buy their bread rolls for 6 dkk to make myself sandwiches.

Kathrine Kollegiet (KK) is comprised of about 50% americans (a big group from University of Oregon and University of Wisconsin, Madison) and the rest international students. Our building has a fun group of people and I've made some good friends already!

  1. Hi Alison

What a nice blog you have. It is interesting to read about your experiences in Copenhagen. I live in Copenhagen, and I have made a website collecting all dorms at one place. The website make it easier for students to find dorms in Copenhagen. I discovered your photos of Kathrine kollegiet on Frederiksberg. May I use your pictures of this dorm on my website?

I am looking forward to hear from you.

    Best regards
    Rasmus
