7/10 The National Museum of Denmark and SMK

On Wednesday, I museum hopped around the city. Many of museums have free entry on certain days of the week. Our first stop was The National Museum of Denmark which contains historical exhibits from around the world. The special Viking exhibit is at the Nationalmuseet for five months until it moves on to London and Berlin.

The next museum I went to was the Statens Museum for Kunst - National Gallery of Denmark. SMK houses European Art from 1300-1800, Danish and Nordic Art 1750-1900, French Art 1900-1930, Danish and Internationl Art after 1900, and a few modern exhibits.

SMK - exterior under construction until summer 2014.

An eerie piece titled "Please, Keep Quiet" by Elmgreen & Dragset (Danish and Norwegian artists). This sterile hospital room conveyed that 'whereas art is often concerned with immortality and grand, abstract, ideas, this installation confronts us with our own biological mortality.' Needless to say, this was not my favorite piece, but it was definitely provocative.
